As drones and notebooks demand ever-higher performance and safety from multi-cell Li-Ion battery packs, battery management systems (BMS) rely on real-time monitoring of each cell's voltage, current, and temperature to accurately estimate state of charge (SOC), extend battery life, and maintain system safety. With systems moving toward thinner and lighter designs, consolidating these capabilities into a single chip has become a key challenge in modern battery management design.
To address these requirements, Richtek introduces the RT9441, a battery fuel gauge and protection management IC designed for 2-to-4 series Li-Ion battery packs, delivering highly integrated battery management functions in a single chip:
- High-precision voltage, current, and temperature measurement, continuous monitoring of each cell's status.
- Effectively extends battery life and device standby time with only 65μA quiescent current in sleep mode.
- Richtek's proprietary VGCS (VoltaicGauge with Current Sensing) algorithm delivers highly accurate, stable, and smooth SOC estimation across various application scenarios.
- Available in a WQFN-32L package to optimize thermal performance and layout.
The RT9441 also supports HMAC-SHA1, HMAC-SHA256, and higher-security ECC authentication to prevent battery counterfeiting and unauthorized access. With high performance and robust security, it delivers a next-generation battery management solution for multi-cell Li-Ion battery pack applications.
