RT8420是一款高效率的電流連續模式電感降壓轉換器，被設計用於從比LED串電壓高的電壓源對單只或多隻串聯連接的LED進行驅動，其工作電壓範圍是7V-50V，採用滯回式控制方式，使用高端電流檢測電阻對流過LED的電流進行參數設定。
RT8420採用功率開關在低端、輸出電流檢測在高端的電路結構，只需一隻外接電阻即可對需要的平均輸出電流進行設定。LED的亮度可通過類比調光信號進行控制，當亮度百分比較低時，最高開關工作頻率會受到限制。
RT8420採用具有外露散熱焊盤的MSOP-8和PSOP-8封裝，具有很好的散熱能力。
