RT8240 是用于笔记本电脑中将电池高电压转换为低压 CPU 内核、I/O 和内存芯片所使用的电源的 PWM 控制器，其转化效率高，输出电压精度高，具有卓越的瞬态回应特性。RT8240 支持芯片内的电压设定，可通过控制 G0 端子的状态使其输出电压在 1V 和 1.05V 之间进行选择。它所采用的固定导通时间 PWM 控制架构赋予其在维持相对固定的工作频率情况下在宽阔的输入/输出电压比下自由运作的能力，并且能在负载发生瞬态变化时具有 100ns 的实时回应能力。RT8240 抛弃了传统电流模式 PWM 控制器中使用电阻进行电流检测的方式，降低了成本，提高了效率。由于具备驱动大功率同步整流 MOSFET 的能力，其效率也得到了改善。在轻载条件下，它可进入二极管仿真模式以提高效率。其 Buck 架构容许将很高的电池电压直接转换为系统需要的电压也对效率提升做出了贡献。RT8240 可为 CPU 内核、芯片组、DRAM 和其它低压系统提供低达 1V 的电源，其封装为 WQFN-12L 2x2。
