RT8966 是一款模拟子系统，于单一 mini/micro USB 连接器上集成线性充电器、4 个 LDO、4 通道电流源，以及用于 USB、UART、麦克风、立体声与音频的多路复用器。RT8966 采用 I<sup>2</sup>C 总线进行控制，并使用内部方法判断所连接的器件。USB 输入提供高速 USB 连接。音频输入具备负电源轨信号运行，可实现简单的 DC 耦合耳机扬声器。RT8966 通过使用 USB ID 信号引脚与 VBUS 电压，提供内部器件检测方法。电阻值与 VBUS 电压决定每个配件的唯一检测方式。主机微处理器采用 I<sup>2</sup>C 控制开关位置，并读取配件检测结果。RT8966 亦可检测 USB 充电器，包括专用充电器（D+/D- 短路）以及高功率主机 / 集线器充电器。RT8966 具备线性充电器，最大电流能力为 1A。充电电流与充电终止电流可通过 I<sup>2</sup>C 接口控制。它亦提供 50mA LDO，以支持外围电路的电源。在工厂模式下，RT8966 提供 4.35V/2.3A 电源，以支持系统运行。RT8966 采用薄型 WQFN-32L 4x4 封装，可实现针对 PCB 空间与散热考量优化的解决方案。
