RT9426A 是以微处理器外设形式存在的供单节锂离子/利聚合物电池包使用的电池电量计，可被安置在电池包或系统板上完成对不可替换的电池或可替换的电池的管理工作。</br>RT9426A 使用包含电流检测的伏打电量计（Voltaic Gauge with Current Sensing, VGCS）演算法，可通过测量实际电池电压并将其与电池开路电压进行比较来计算电池荷电状态的增减，再加上电流检测的结果来对上述结果进行补偿，最后获得实际的电池荷电状态（SOC）并进行上报，还可上报电池的充电状态（ State of Charge）、健康状态（State of Health）、充满容量（Full Charge Capacity）、放空时间（Time of Empty）和使用回圈数（Cycle Count）等资讯。使用 VGCS 演算法可获得平滑的 SOC 资料而不会带有时间和电流造成的累积误差，相比因电流检测误差和电池自放电而造成 SOC 资料偏差的库伦计数法具有显著的优势。</br>RT9426A 通过发出中断信号的方式来提供电池状态的监控资讯，可让系统处理器即时获得电池充放电过程中出现的过压、欠压和温度过高等状况的报警信号。在电池高速充电的应用中，它能通过开尔文连接检测的方式消除 IR 压降效应，使充电特性和安全性能都得到优化。它还同时具有 SOC 过低报警、SOC 变化和电池存在状态变化报警等很有用的功能。
