RT9503 是适合可擕式应用的全集成、低成本的单节锂离子电池充电 IC ，可用交流电源转接器和 USB 介面为之供电，而且会自动的对这两种输入进行检测并从中选择合适的输入作为充电电源。当两个输入都不存在时，RT9503即自动进入睡眠模式。RT9503 采用优化的方式完成充电任务，可自动选择预充模式、快充模式和恒压模式进行充电操作。当充电电流降低到预设的充电电流时，充电过程自动终止。当电源来自 USB 介面时，充电电流可在 100mA 和 500mA 之间进行选择。当使用交流电源转接器进行充电时，充电电流可用外部电阻进行调节，最大值可达 1A 。它内部的热回馈电路可对内核温度进行调节，使得它在任何可用工作温度范围内都可以最佳的充电速率进行充电。RT9503 的交流电源转接器输入端子和 USB 输入端子 分别具有 18V 和 7V 的电压耐受能力。它的其它特性包括外部可调整安全计时器、欠压保护、对交流电源转接器供电端的过压保护和电池温度监测，还具有电源状态指示和充电状态指示输出。
