RT9718 是避免低压系统受到异常高压冲击的积体电路，最高可以耐受 30V 电压。它通过监视输入电压、电池电压和充电电流并确保所有参数都在正常工作范围内来确保安全。当输入电压超过预设 OVP 阈值时，它可在 1μs 内断开 MOSFET ，以便在任何危害发生前就将电源供应断开。它可在没有电池存在的情况下提供电压输出。<Br>流过功率 MOSFET 的电流是受限的，目的是避免以过大的电流对电池进行充电，电流限制参数可通过 ILIM 和 GND 之间的电族进行设定。OCP 功能的实施电路中包含了一个4位的计数器，当过流事件被计数到16次时，MOSFET 功率开关被彻底关断，仅在重新上电以后才能恢复。<Br>RT9718 还同时对电池电压进行检测，一旦电池电压超过 4.35V 并持续 180μs，MOSFET 功率开关就会被切断，这样的电池过电压连续发生 16 次以后，MOSFET 功率开关就会被内部逻辑电路永久性地关闭。
