RT8488 是6通道 LED 驅動器，它將經過仔細匹配的電流送入每一串 LED 中。由於使用外掛的電流源，每串 LED 的數量限制僅取決於電流源的能力和 V<sub>IN</sub>/V<sub>OUT</sub> 條件。它的電流模式 Boost 控制器以最高可調至 1MHz 的頻率工作，其可工作電壓範圍為 7V~28V ，它的開關驅動器具有可以驅動工業級高功率 MOSFET 的能力。<br>其 PWM 控制回路的工作目標是將 LED 串底端的最低電壓調節至 0.7V 以適應各 LED 串之間的電壓誤差。RT8488 在工作期間自動對各 LED 串的故障如開路、斷路等問題進行檢測並將相應通道遮罩以避免 V<sub>OUT</sub> 升高至過壓的狀態。<br>各通道的 LED 電流可以分別通過一隻電阻很容易地進行調節。它支援三種簡單易用的調光方法：1，通過一個外來電壓進行線性的類比調節；2，真數位式控制的 PWM 調光方法對 LED 電流進行責任週期調節；3，使用內置的帶限幅功能放大器和低通濾波器將 PWM 信號轉化為類比信號進行調光，這可消除 PWM 調光方式所帶來的雜訊。<br>它還包括了可調的輸出過電壓保護、PWM 開關電流限制和過熱關機保護等功能。
