RT8540 是高效率、大電流的 Boost 轉換器，適用於單芯鋰離子/聚合物電池供電的場合。它通過控制上下強開關管的責任週期實現輸出電壓的穩定，開關管的工作頻率為固定的 2MHz，容許使用小型電感和電容與其配合進行工作，使之非常適合使用在小型的可擕式產品中。其輸出電壓可用 FB 端的外部電阻或通過 I<sup>2</sup>C 介面進行設定，還具有過壓保護、過流保護和過溫保護以避免輸出端開路或短路可能造成的損害，內建的軟啟動功能可避免出現啟動期間的衝擊電流。在關機狀態下，其電流消耗可低於 5μA。
