RT8228A PWM 控制器具備高效率、優異的暫態響應能力及高精度直流輸出電壓控制，可將筆記型電腦中的高電壓電池電源降壓，以產生 CPU 核心、I/O 以及晶片組 RAM 所需的低電壓電源。 RT8228A 採用固定導通時間（Constant On-Time）PWM 控制架構，可輕鬆應對寬範圍輸入與輸出電壓比，並在負載瞬態變化時提供僅 100ns 的「即時啟動（Instant-On）」響應，同時維持相對固定的開關頻率。 RT8228A 透過省略傳統電流模式 PWM 控制器所需的電流感測電阻（Current Sense Resistor），在降低系統成本的同時提升轉換效率。此外，其可驅動大尺寸同步整流 MOSFET，並於輕載條件下進入二極體模擬模式（Diode Emulation Mode），進一步提高效率。 降壓架構使 RT8228A 能直接將高電壓電池電源轉換為低電壓輸出，達到最佳電源轉換效率。音訊跳頻模式（ASM, Audio Skipping Mode）可將開關頻率維持在 25kHz 以上，以消除音訊應用中的可聽噪音。 RT8228A 適用於 CPU 核心電源、晶片組電源、DRAM 電源及其他低至 0.5V 的低電壓供電應用。 RT8228A 採用 WQFN-12L（2mm × 2mm）封裝。
