RT9986 是為數位相機和其他掌上型設備供電的完整電源解決方案，它包含了1路含有負載關斷開關的同步升壓型 DC/DC 轉換器、1路可選擇為升壓或降壓的同步架構 DC/DC 轉換器、2路同步降壓型 DC/DC轉換器、1路輸出高壓的同步升壓型 DC/DC 轉換器、1路反相型 DC/DC 轉換器和1路可選擇為同步升壓或是電流源的 WLED 驅動器。此外，RT9986還含有一個供RTC電路使用的低壓差線性穩壓器、一個電壓檢測器和一組系統重定電路。為了降低元件數量、降低整體成本，RT9986 將所有功率 MOSFET 都集成在單一晶片之中。</br>RT9986 在設計上按照數位相機的需求進行如下的資源配置：</br>CH1 的同步升壓輸出為馬達或系統的 I/O 部分供電；</br>CH2 可根據馬達或系統 I/O 部分的需要將電路設定為升壓或是降壓架構；</br>CH3/4 的同步降壓輸出用於為 DSP 內核和記憶體部分供電；</br>CH5 同步升壓電路的高壓輸出為 CCD 的偏置部分供電；</br>CH6 的反相輸出為負電壓，它為 CCD 提供負偏壓 ；</br>CH7 可根據顯示幕背光源的 WLED 配置設置為高壓輸出或電流源輸出。</br>可選擇為升壓或降壓的轉換器的架構選擇時自動完成的，這由外部元件的不同電路架構決定。RT9986 的7個 DC/DC 通道都內建了補償電路，為 CCD 供電的電路也無需使用變壓器，所有低壓輸出的升壓或降壓轉換器的轉換效率都可高達95%。</br>RT9986 在設計上提供了完善的保護功能，其中包括過流保護、熱關機保護、過壓保護、超載保護和欠壓保護。
