Wi-Fi 7 is coming and Richtek has got you covered! |
|
The higher bandwidth offered by Wi-Fi 7 is the primary reason for its adoption. Expected to deliver peak rates of over 40 Gbps, it represents a 4 time increase over current Wi-Fi 6E technology. Wi-Fi 7 introduces three major changes that set it apart from Wi-Fi 6: |
- Maximum Speed
Wi-Fi 7 is expected to reach a maximum speed of 46 Gbps, a substantial improvement over the 9.6 Gbps top speed of Wi-Fi 6. This speed boost promises to improve the user experience for applications such as VR/AR, streaming, and cloud gaming and so on.
- Increased Channel Width
While Wi-Fi 6 operates on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, Wi-Fi 7 introduces the 6GHz band, offering an increased channel width that reduces multi-user latency and ensures a smoother, more seamless connection for all users.
- Higher QAM
Quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) is a technique used to encode data on a radio signal. With Wi-Fi 7's 4096-QAM, an improvement over Wi-Fi 6's 1024-QAM, the new technology offers higher data transmission rates.
